LAURA RUSS

My daughter is currently in year 11, I live in South Hedland with my husband and son. We have a small farm in Jennacubbine and are planning to move back in the near future.

We are living in the Pilbara as I am the Detective Senior Sergeant, Officer in Charge based in South Hedland.  I was raised on a cattle station in the Kimberley so rural life is extremely important to my family.  I attended boarding school as a teenager, so I have some understanding of the challenges our children face when living away from home.

I work with young people on a daily basis so appreciate some of the complexities they experience, such as social media, peer pressure and mental health stresses.

I have applied for a role on the board as I feel I can bring a different perspective relating to the current needs of children attending Cunderdin Ag from remote areas.

CRYSTAL HENDERSON

My family come from a farming background in Salmon Gums near Esperance. I Studied Agriculture with Peter Gelmi, who was that one teacher that change my life.

After completing Year 12 and my Certificate I – III in Agriculture, my journey hasn’t stopped.

Over last 12 months I have been managing Murdoch University Farms and before that, I managed the Esperance farm Training Centre at Esperance Senior High School around four years.

Before entering the education side of work/farm, I Managed a Cattle stud for five years (Downunder Charolais Stud) and having work experience students from Ag Colleges come and work/learn. I donate my time on and off with the WAYCHC supporting the younger generation in learning skills with livestock for the past 20 plus years and I'm on the RAS WA (Perth Royal Show Committee) for Cattle and helped with the Farm Skills.

I believe it’s important to encourage and support the next generation.

I would love to help support the Cunderdin Agriculture College not only with a great schooling education but also in the Agriculture Industry where I can.

KYLIE NOBLE

I’m a mum of four girls ranging in age from 8-15 years old. I currently work in Education as a Special Needs EA, I love the challenge and diversity of working with students. I am passionate about education and assisting all students in achieving the best possible outcomes.

I have previously been involved in my daughters' P&C taking on the role of Canteen Co-ordinator, School Banking officer and general P&C member.

Currently I serve on our local Football club committee. I look forward to working with the school board to achieve great educational outcomes for all students.

LUCINDA SMITH

I am a mum of 4 children and been married since 2004 to Northam farmer Brett Smith, of RM Smith & Sons Stockfeeds, who grow and produce quality stockfeed.

As part of an established family farming business, I am involved in the administration and retail side of the business.

My eldest son Jacob Smith graduated year 12 at Cunderdin Ag last year and was awarded Runner Up Dux for 2022. Jacob also got an early entry from Curtin Uni, while at Cunderdin to study Agribusiness this year, which he accepted.

We were so appreciative of all the support and guidance Jacob received in his 2 years at Cunderdin, from all the teaching and residential staff, and cannot speak highly enough of his experience at the College.

Our second son Max Smith has just started at Cunderdin this year, and while not following in the ATAR footsteps of his older brother, is loving the variety of subjects the general pathway offers at Cunderdin, and the positive culture at the College.

When not working for the family business, I spend many hours driving kids to their many sporting commitments, but I love the dedication and passion they all have, and I realise being a team player is big part of succeeding in life after school too.
