Torrens' Council
Student Leaders
During Term 1, students nominated themselves for Student Leader in either Student Events, Care & Concern or Environmental Responsibility groups. All children were allowed to nominate for one and then class voting took place to elect student leaders for each class in Torrens.
There were two leaders for each group meaning 6 student leaders from each learning area. Some groups ended up with tied voting so additional students were invited to join the Torrens Council.
The Torrens Council is a student led community group who make decisions about events, thinking about others and the environment.
Within the council, a further vote elected Evie Dew and Sophia Georgakopoulos as Chairperson and Vice-Chair, Cosmo Groff was elected as Finance Manager and Darcy Hudson and Geordie Parker were voted to set the fortnightly agenda. Steffen Hoffmann kindly offered to take on the role of minute keeper.
The following students are Torrens' Councillors and Student Leaders...

Plant a Plant Day
Student Leaders have decided that we will hold a Plant a Plant (PAP) day in Week 9 (Thursday 25th June). All plant donations are welcome as are helping hands to plant seeds, vegetables and small plants in the Torrens Community Garden (at the back of the building).
This term, The Environmental Responsibility Group will be involved in developing the area and preparing for PAP Day.
Nepal Sponsored Walk
Our Student Leaders have decided to have a sponsored walk along the Torrens River on Tuesday 9th June (Week 7).
Following discussions about the Nepal Earthquake and how we can 'Give a Helping Hand,' the Council have decided that all of the money we raise should go to support the Nepalese people who have suffered huge loss. Great credit to the Student Leaders because we started with 75% (with the other 25% going towards the Torrens Community Garden area) and ended with an almost unanimous vote for 100%!
Other events will take place in Term 3 to raise money for the Torrens Community Garden.
More information will publicise this important event and sponsor forms will be sent home shortly.
