Your future is not a destination, it's a journey

Year 12 - Future in Focus Day

Future in Focus

A range of seminars and workshops were organised for our Year 12 students for their Future in Focus Day held on Friday 28th April. Students were provided with resources and lots of useful tips, examples, ideas and things to consider, all of which were designed to help them focus on their future and determine their post school interests, work values, skills, options and pathways .

Mary Reid, Careers Adviser

Here's what students had to say:

“Future in Focus day provided me with valuable insight into the career I want to pursue after high school and I identified a variety of possible training pathways and higher institutions. Mr David Saliba from Youth Pathways Network and Mr Rob Shehadie, Ambassador of Western Sydney TAFE were both the highlight of my day. Their workshops were very informative and engaging and they inspired me to take charge of my career journey. The connections I made during the day and at the mini expo stimulated me to visit two potential colleges (open days) on the weekend allowing me to make more informed decisions and set realistic goals towards my future.”  Matthew Capulong  - Year 12

This event was held at Cecil Hills High School on Friday 28th April

“I became highly motivated from the beginning by the video presented, ‘The Dirty Truth - never follow your passion, but always bring it with you’  in which upon reflection revealed to me a more suitable future career. Both careers websites helped me to discover my capabilities and assisted me with my future career decisions and actions. I learnt that work experience and volunteering will assist me greatly to gain entry into my preferred field of work or course. I was also enlightened by all the guest speakers and representatives of various institutions at the mini expo where I gained valuable knowledge on courses and pathways to undertake.”  Dana Dahlan – Year 12
