Swimming Age Champions 2018
Game time changes: Please note that game times have been changed for the 2nds, 17B, 17E and 15E teams.
A win is a win and I don’t mind a win, I have a very competitive side, but what makes me really proud of St Pius X College and our players is when I hear from other schools how impressed they are with the efforts and behavior of our boys. For example, on Saturday the St Stanislaus’ Firsts coach was telling me how impressed he was with our Seconds who gave it their all against an undefeated St Stanislaus Firsts. Also our coaches have told me how our players have been able to overcome difficult moments, maintain their composure and be disciplined at their games.
With only two rounds to go, we have a large number of teams who are still fighting for a spot in the semi finals. Positions may come down to ‘for and against points’ so every point counts, even with a loss.
Play of the day: Matthew MacKenzie on fire for the 14Fs.
Game of the day: The 5ths came from behind to send it into overtime and then win it in the dying seconds. Ben Johnson and Lachlan Chue clinch victory from defeat.
Deserves a mention: Daniel Aposhian, Matt Garrett – 1sts.
Josh Hanrahan, Jamie Aleporos, Brad Woo - 3rds. Declan Dowling, Nick Parker – 4ths.
Antony Shahinian, Oliver Tysoe – 17B. Matt Davey – 17C. Nick Brewer, Max Martin – 17D.
Daniel Giulambarian, Corey Johnson – 15C. Ryan Moss – 15F.
Nate Arena, Lucas Makarewicz - 14C. Xavier Rogers, Joel Chand - 14D.
Chris Zilifian, Max Oswald – 13A. Luka Wetherill, Ryan Johnsun, James Hanna – 13C.
Oscar Fellew – 13D. Tristan Williams - 13F.

ISA Round 8 – 1st XI v Oakhill College
The 1st XI travelled to Oakhill for a crucial match as positions in the top four of the competition have become tightly contested. The St Pius X College players, coaches and supporters were happy to support the Oakhill Pink Stumps Day for the fine work of the McGrath Foundation.

Captain James Brown gave himself an 18th birthday present by winning the toss and electing to bat. This looked like the right decision after Tom Colgan (62) and Adam Greenwood (34) put on exactly 100 for the opening wicket. This was followed up by another good partnership featuring Liahm Williams (44 not out) and Nick McLachlan (32) which led to a solid final total of 7 for 201 after the 50 overs. In oppressive conditions Louis Mosmann (2-32) captured early wickets and Mackenzie Carrall (4-23) came back on for a vital second spell that included three wickets in one over. Alex Bain clean bowled the dangerous first drop batsman, while Williams and Hayden Robertson each took an important wicket. Captain Brown’s turn and throw to run out Oakhill’s second top scorer was an impressive piece of fielding as the opposition finished all out for 135.
This convincing win has set up a 2 v 3 game this coming Saturday at home against the strong St Stanislaus Bathurst side. Any support would be very welcome.

Football News can be found in the document below:
Last Friday night the Senior squad competed at the St Andrew's Invitational Carnival at SOPAC. Despite not having a full team on the night we still managed to achieve third place behind SPC and Oakhill. The boys all swam extremely well.
Our next fixture is the Christian Brothers Swimming Carnival to be held at North Sydney Pool on Saturday 24th February. St Pius X College will be hosting the event. Details will be out to swimmers next week. All swimmers must have school swimming costumes on the night.
