Project Compassion Appeal and Pancake Tuesdays with The Edmund Rice Society

The Project Compassion Lenten Appeal continues in Homerooms this week. Lent provides a great opportunity to start a conversation about the significance of prayer, fasting and alms-giving at school, at home and beyond. Could you please encourage a spirit of generosity as the boys think about those less fortunate than themselves at this time.

Year 12 students, as well as Year 11 Eucharistic Ministers are leading collections in Homerooms each morning, and the Edmund Rice Society are running Pancake Tuesdays at Little Brother every Tuesday Morning during Lent, from 7:30 am - 8:30 am.

Any families wishing to donate online can do so through the St Pius X College Caritas page: https://lent.caritas.org.au/spxchatswood .

Year 10 Reflection Day

This Friday our Year 10 students will travel to Oxford Falls for the first of their Reflection Days for 2020. The young men will learn the aspects of Christian Retreat and what this entails. The program provides experiences that mirror the needs of Year 10 students at present. Friday will focus on “journey” and “beginnings” as the students move closer to senior schooling, greater maturity and more independence. The services of Mr Paul Wade (former Australian Socceroo Captain) assist greatly in explaining the journeys people have during their life time and the manner with which we respond speaks volumes of our maturity and character.

Year 5 & 6 Bible Liturgy

Next Tuesday, 10 March, at 10.30 am at the parish of Our Lady of Dolours, the Junior School will gather for their Leadership Pledge and Bible Liturgy. This occasion provides the opportunity for the new students to the College to receive their own copy of the Bible.  Our school sings with such enthusiasm at every Mass the hymn, “Ancient Words”. In this hymn we state the Bible holds truth and morals that are as relevant today as they were when the Bible was written. The younger students learn that this sacred text maps out a framework of morals to live by and guide us as we grow up. It is hoped that the Bible that students receive becomes a treasured keep-sake, allowing the ancient words to impart into their lives.
