STUDENT LEADERSHIP

STUDENT LEADERSHIP

This year our future year 12's went on a leadership camp located in Warrnambool. The treacherous train trip totalled over four and a half hours, and it sure felt that long!

During this camp, the prospective year 12 student leaders were involved in an interview process, different to those conducted in previous years. Prior to this camp, we had to submit an application, detailing what leadership meant to us and where we could see it going in future years. This year the daunting one-on-one interrogation was replaced with a more comfortable group setting. We were divided into groups and each given a different scenario about how we could improve aspects of the school, we then had to discuss this in front of a panel of teachers, Mrs Pollard, Mrs Hammet and Mr Davis. This method allowed us all to give our input and express our ideas, as well as bounce of each other’s, which allowed for an in depth discussion.

A similar approach was taken with the selection of the junior and middle school leaders, on Monday they were also split into groups and given a scenario that they were to explore with a panel including our school captains and Mrs Hammet.

I’d like to say congratulations to everyone one who applied for leadership this year, and well done to our 2018 student leaders.
