Indonesian news

Bu Henna, our language assistant, has settled in very well and the students are enjoying the lessons. Over the next few weeks leading up to Indonesia Day, the students will be experiencing some different cultural activities, such as learning to play angklung, traditional Indonesian instruments and games.

Last week, we had Bu Devathas and several past students from Heathmont College, come and address our senior students about the benefits of studying a language at secondary school. Our students enjoyed watching the presentation about the older students’ recent trip to Indonesia. The visit to their sister school in Yogyakarta being the highlight for the Heathmont College students. Our students had the opportunity to ask questions about high school in preparation for next year. It was great to see how well our last year grade 6 students have settled into being secondary students.

Terima kasih to Tom E, Evie M, Sasha A, Chloe C and Emily K( Heathmont College School Captain- former MPS student) for coming back to MPS and chatting with our students.

House Athletics Carnival

The whole school House Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday August 16th at Proclamation Park, Ringwood. This carnival aims to encourage all students to participate and try their Personal Best in running, throwing and jumping events.

Grades 5/6 do not need to pay for this event as it is included in the sports fee however parents still need to go online to Compass to sign for permission. The cost for Prep to Grade 4 students is $6.50. The Prep and Grade 1 students will remain at school until 10.30am before being transported to Proclamation Park. Their events start at 10.45am and will finish by 2pm and be transported back to school. All other competitors events finish at 2.30pm. Students may be dismissed early from venue if permission was given via note to myself or to the classroom teacher.

If any parents can help out on the day please email me at Chisholm.bronwyn.l@edumail.vic.gov.au or return the paper slip handed out to families.

The long range forecast is for medium chance of rainfall. Let’s hope for a bright, rain free fun day.

Heathmont College call out for help!

A group of students at Heathmont College are part of a Billy Cart competition that will take place on Sunday 8th September at Metec in Kilsyth.  It is aimed at raising money for the Smith Family and Headspace. There are 20 teams competing, each with a major sponsor.  Ours is Paccor (Kenworth Trucks). They are making two billy carts for our teams but we need to provide the wheels.

Do you have old kids bikes, scooter, wheel barrows or go-kart wheels that you can donate?

My contact details are craig.bradley@heathmont.vic.edu.au or 0432716432 - I am happy to swing by locally to the school and collect them.

Our deadline is Monday August 5th.

Thanks,
