From our Principal
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all our Burkie families.
K-2 Christmas Concert
Last Wednesday our amazing K-2 students performed the K-2 Christmas concert "A Step Back In Time."
Thank you to the parents and caregivers that arranged their child/ren's costumes and brought students back to school for the evening performance.
It was a wonderful show and a fantastic display of Burkie pride by all involved.
Choirs visit St Anne's Nursing Home
Last Thursday, our junior and senior choirs attend St Anne's to spread some Christmas cheer through song.
Year 6 Farewell
A massive thank you to the parents of Year 6 students who organised the Year 6 farewell dinner last week; Kerri Johnstone, Christy Kooyman, Jo Stacey, Megan Fillery, Inga Sladden, Karena Crampton, Nathan Johnstone and Rod Sladden.
The Central Football Club rooms looked magnificent and all students who attended were lucky to enjoy fabulous food, amazing cakes and a signature bear to keep.
Many thanks to Jacob Johnstone and Emily Roberts who took photos and videos of this event.
We hope the students enjoyed their special night.
Little Burkies Graduation and Teddy Bears' Picnic
Congratulations to our Little Burkies who graduated last week at the Teddy Bears' Picnic. We look forward to these students joining the BWPS community as kindergarten students in 2020.
Thank you to all the families that came to support the K-2 students as they paraded and performed with their teddies. We even had a special visit from Lead Ted!
Bust the Dust
Last Friday, students and staff participated in the Bust the Dust raindance.
Check out some of the groovy moves that were had as we wish for rain this Christmas.
Congratulations to our school bankers!
Congratulations to our raffle prize winners:
First Prize: Misha-Dawne Reardon
Second: Trent Farquharson
Third: Charlie Pollard
Each student has taken home a prize pack including Lego, stationary, Commonwealth Bank products and rewards, Burke Ward merchandise and a few special Christmas treats.
Our thanks to Burke Ward Staff (in particular Karen Canning and Emily Macbeth), Sue Tang (our Commonwealth Bank school banking specialist) and Peter Rosewarn at Commonwealth Bank in Broken Hill for prize donations.
School banking will return in 2020 using the drop box system in the office. Please make sure your book is dropped off before school starts and picked up by the end of the day.
You will note from our prize winners that siblings of current students are still eligible to be part of school banking. Younger siblings yet to start school, as well as students who have moved to high school are all welcome to be part of our program.
We look forward to seeing you all bank again in 2020.
Merry Christmas, happy holidays and all the best for the New Year!
From your school banking mums
