LCS is the FIRST Tasmanian school to partner with the B2Me community that is growing around Australia.  B2Me is a new and innovative service finding social media platform linked to our school website via the connect tab on our homepage and a platform that enables LCS to build stronger relationships by connecting families in the workplace.  Check it out by looking at our website: go to

https://www.lcs.tas.edu.au/ and click on the right hand side connect tab, then on B2Me.

We hope that you will partner with our school to support LCS families and staff who own a business by signing up.  What a great opportunity to help others in our community!  If you have any questions or need some help, please contact our Community, Events & Marketing Coordinator Tanya Socorro:  socorrot@lcs.tas.edu.au

#LCSkeepingourschoolsafe

Our school is working hard to ensure that we have a safe learning environment.  All families at our school should have received a fridge magnet reminder that outlines how LCS and families can partner together to keep our school safe.  If you haven't received this or need another, you can download a copy below or contact our office for one that will stick to your fridge!  Pray for God's protection over our community as we aim to provide a safe and healthy environment for staff and students to learn in.

#LCSkeepingourschoolsafe is an initiative that has resulted from many hours of research, meetings and consultation. It's prompted a deep clean of our school, response/safety plans being written and many practical measures that are now being taken to ensure our school community remains as safe as possible. Two staff members leading these initiatives are Business Manager Graeme Smith and HR & Compliance Coordinator Liz Winter who we sincerely thank. Many hours of work have led to a very successful 'restart' of Term 2 this week and we are grateful for the team work involved from all our staff and the support from parents. Praise God for the strong partnerships and supporting community we have at LCS.

School's back!

Welcoming back children to our school was a joy this week and despite the cold day the many smiles warmed our hearts.  It was a smooth start for all and a great time to reconnect.  Teachers shared that it felt similar to the first day of school for the year!

Fun in the sun & thank you!

Our Junior students recently had the opportunity to capture some time in the sun and also create a big THANK YOU outside our administration building using chalk to all our essential workers who have kept our community going since COVID-19 started.  We sincerely thank everyone for their support at a time when our community needs to pull together - well done!

Ground works at LCS

With our school campus being quieter, we recently had the opportunity to receive some fill to prepare the surface for future building works. Students will now find the view has changed and the ground has shifted near our Middle School block.  There's no confirmed date as yet for building to commence, but exciting times ahead as we look towards the future needs of our growing school community.

Pulse has arrived at LCS

Improving student social and emotional wellbeing as a way to enhance learning and satisfaction in school is a priority for our school so LCS have launched Pulse.  Pulse is a social interaction program that enables our school to gain insights into all aspects of student engagement and well being from their perspective each week, while also helping us identify students that are potentially at risk. LCS will then be able to develop initiatives and react to circumstances in real-time that will help our students as they need it, and improve the way we deliver education to your children.   For information on how the Pulse Program works read the FAQ sheet below.

Our Pulse program has begun and we look forward to being able to provide more care for students at our school in the future.

Dept of State Growth                                                     Arrangements for Bus Services in Term 2

As essential services, public transport is exempt from restrictions on gatherings and all bus services will operate as normal during Term 2. However, the continued operation of services is being regularly reviewed based on Public Health advice and updates.

As on-site learning resumes for all students, the number of passengers travelling on buses will increase. Students are encouraged to follow the following physical distancing measures where possible:

  • If undertaking short trips, consider walking or cycling.
  • When queuing at bus stops, keep a minimum of one metre from other passengers.
  • Keep physical distancing in mind and choose a seat away from others where possible. Members of the same household may sit together.
  • Minimise the contact with surfaces inside the bus as much as possible.
  • Practice good hand hygiene and where possible, wash or sanitise hands before boarding the bus.
  • Cough or sneeze into elbows.
  • Do not occupy the first row of seats nearest the driver.
  • Always comply with any requests from driver.

As a further safety measure, operators have been advised to clean school bus interiors each morning and afternoon using a commercial grade pH neutral detergent (not acid or alkaline), with a focus on high volume touch points such as handrails.

Please be assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of students when travelling on buses and to manage risks based on the best and latest evidence and medical advice. However, if you, or your child/ren are uncomfortable with the arrangements that are in place, you may wish to consider alternative means of transport.

Students should not use public transport if they are supposed to be in isolation or are unwell.

If you have any queries regarding the operation of bus services, please direct them to Passenger Transport at ptscontracts@stategrowth.tas.gov.au or (03) 6166 3343. New information on school bus arrangements and the fare amnesty can be found on the Department of State Growth website: https://www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/families-community/public-transport

Thank you to LCS staff

Our school is very reliant on technology and ensuring this runs smoothly. No more so than during this year when we moved to online learning. Our IT Coordinator, Brad Robinson was all over this task, so staff wanted to thank him last week for all his hard work. A donation of diet coke was the way to do this:  55.675 litres & 158 cans/bottles later, Brad acknowledged that "he had found his happy place!" We are now wondering how long it will take Brad to get through this!  He's still smiling by the way.

It was also a wonderful treat for our staff to have Roamer Bean Coffee visit us last week during a staff planning day in preparation for the return to school.  Staff were treated to a hot brew during the day and it was much appreciated.  Thank you Roamer Bean!
