Principal's Announcements

Elley Drummond

It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Elley Drummond as our new Aboriginal Education Leader. Elley will be taking over from Julie Ferguson our current Koorie Education Officer, as Julie will be starting a new position with the Government at the end of May.

Elley has been working as our Indigenous Education Support person over the past 3 years and we are very keen for her to step up into this important leadership position.

To enable her to work with our many indigenous students and their families, Elley will be out of the classroom every Thursday and Margaret Lee will be teaching 3/4ED.

Winter Uniform

Students are asked to be in full winter uniform by the commencement of Week 4, Monday 13th May.

Please Note - grey shorts/skorts are now part of the winter uniform, however the summer dress with tights and or skivvy is not.

Please see the attached Uniform Policy for clarification.

ANZAC Day

Thank you to the staff and students who represented St Mary's at the Mooroopna ANZAC Day Parade and Ceremony. A pleasing number of parents and students gathered at the water tower early on Thursday morning.

Thank you to our flag bearers Tyler Nolan, Logan Kempinski and Oriarna Macreadie and Caitlin Doherty and Jessica Glover who laid a wreath on behalf of our school community.

Another group of our students was privileged to each lay a poppy  in remembrance of the Fallen.

All our students are to be commended for the reverence and respect shown during the ceremony.

Holy Week Liturgy

Last term our whole school community gathered together to celebrate Holy Week with a Liturgy that told the story of Palm Sunday, The Last Supper, The Washing of Feet and Good Friday. Well done to our students for participating so reverently. It was extremely moving and beautifully presented.

Student Learning Meetings

Thank you to all the parents who have participated so far in our new look Parent Teacher Interviews. Our teachers have worked hard to choose appropriate goals for individual students and have appreciated the opportunity to discuss each student's progress with their families.  We are halfway through our interviews and bookings are still available for TJ, JG, ED, AB, FD and CD. Bookings can be made on PAM. If you have been unable to make an interview please read about your child's goals on PAM. If you would like to make an alternative interview time please email your child's teacher or Amber in the Office at office@smmooroopna.catholic.edu.au
