Year 10 News

Mock Interviews

On Thursday 22nd November, Mornington Secondary College hosted ‘Mock Interviews’ for our Year 10 students. Approximately 215 students were involved with preparing and attending the day. The purpose was to allow students the opportunity to research the job they would like to be employed in within the next 5 – 10 years. They printed out a mock advertisement then created a resume and cover letter that supported that position.

The interview panel consisted of a member of staff and a member of the Mornington community, this year we had representatives from Rotary Mornington, Rotary Mount Martha, U3A, Lord Somers Camp, Bunnings and Skill Invest. Students were asked a series of questions similar to those which may be asked in a formal job interview. They were given feedback on their performance; their strengths and areas for improvement were highlighted. This process allowed students to be involved in a real life situation so they could gain confidence and develop sound interview strategies and skills which will benefit them in later years.

Graduation Day

It was lovely to see our very proud year 10 students receive their graduation certificates as they move from middle school to senior school.

Congratulations to you all.
