Year 8

Subject Selections

This week, students will be informed about the subject selection process for Year 9.  The Year 9 Course Handbook is in PAM under https://pam.kilbreda.vic.edu.au/WebModules/KnowledgeBanks/Default.aspx?id=2 or you can find it under 'Student Resources' then 'Course Handbooks'. The handbook explains in detail the core subjects undertaken at Year 9 and the electives on offer.

Important Information

Students need to select six electives unless they are doing a language, in which case, students select four electives, as the study of a language is a full year, two semester course. Students need to fill in their 6 or 4 preferences and 2 to 3 backup selections.

Online subject selections open Friday 6 August and close Thursday 12 August. Ms Carole Downie will email each student a link to submit their selections later this week. The email will be entitled NO REPLY, so please remind your daughter to look out for this.

It would be an excellent idea for you to sit down with your daughter over the weekend and go through the booklet to highlight which subjects are of interest before ranking them in order of importance and then clicking on the link in the email provided to fill in the form online.

Year 9 is an excellent time for students to explore a different range of subject interests. They should be guided by what interests them, subjects that they have aptitude for and subjects that may lead to courses they may like to pursue in later years. Students are encouraged to talk their parents, to staff and to Year 9 students to get more information about subjects they may like to select.

Year 8 Camp and Triple E (Excite, Explore, Experience) Week

Students and staff are looking forward to camp. The excursions and preparations are well underway. At our next pastoral period on 17 August, students will be given more detailed information on activities undertaken on Year 8 Camp. Olivia Murphy, Adrienne Cameron and Thea Lambe are busy organising our trivia night questions for camp and the girls have selected their cabin buddies.

A letter detailing final dates and requirements will be going out to parents via PAM later this week. However, for your information, below is a summary of Triple E week, which involves the two-night, three-day camp and two excursion days.
