REMARKABLE READING

We have just passed 200 nights for 2021. That means there are still well over 100 nights to go until we have our reading nights pizza party in term 4 this year. Well done to the students who have already or are close to reaching this goal. They have a ticket to the Reading Nights party ready when they return! Don’t forget to keep reading and recording to make sure you get to attend the 40 nights reading celebration this term. Make sure you come and see me when you get back for your photo or to move your star up our Reading Nights Data Wall.

WE ARE HERE TO HELP!!!

Please reach out if you need help or just someone to talk to. Everyone copes with these times in different ways so if you have any questions or just want an ear to listen please ring me at school. We can’t wait to get everyone back on site as we have many wonderful activities coming up this term. Look after yourselves and each other and take care until this lockdown is over.

WHAT A SUPERSTAR!!!

Maddy Cooper has cut her hair and donated it to a wig company for people with cancer. After talking to her aunty about getting her hair cut her aunty suggested she donated it. They found a place through her hairdresser, so she got it cut and the hairdresser packaged it up for them and they sent it off. What an absolute superstar Maddy. We are so proud of you thinking of others and what a difference you will make to someone’s life! Another example of when you fill someone else’s bucket you also fill your own bucket!!!!! Well done Maddy!

On Friday 6th August we will be holding our own Olympics Day at SPS. We have an awesome day of activities planned to celebrate the Olympics that are being held in Tokyo starting this Friday. The day will be broken into 3 parts – morning block in classrooms doing Olympics activities (Wakakirri students will be rehearsing) and opening ceremony, middle block is outside activities where students will be competing in fun activities (the chicken chuck, basketball shooting, mini hurdles, beanbag toss and our version of the 100m sprint) for medals, a Meal Deal for lunch and last block is the closing ceremony where the choir and SPS Got Talent finalists are going to perform and medals will be presented. Students will be encouraged to join in with all activities but can help out in other ways if needed on the day. They will still be part of the fun and represent their country.
