COVID Restrictions

We're looking forward to welcoming students back to school later this week (Thursday).  Some of the government rules around covid safety have changed since we were last at school.  Here's the most up to date information relevant to schools.

Visitors (including parents) now welcome at school

Visitors can attend school sites however density limits must be applied to any spaces accessed and record keeping, and face mask obligations must be adhered to by any visitors attending the school site.

Face masks at schools

School staff (primary and secondary) and secondary school students aged 12 or older:

  • are not required to wear a face mask while at school when interacting exclusively with staff and students from their school
  • must carry a face mask at all times, unless a lawful exception applies
  • should wear a face mask indoors when interacting with external visitors, including parents/carers and staff/students from other schools.

Children under 12 years of age and students at primary school are not required to wear face masks when at school, or when attending an OSHC program.

Face masks are mandatory for all school staff and school students aged 12 or older on public transport and when in taxis or ride share vehicles. This includes travelling to and from school on public transport or in a vehicle with others not from your household. School staff and students must also abide by the face mask requirements of other public venues.

Visitors and parents must observe indoor face mask requirements. Face masks continue to be recommended outdoors when 1.5m physical distancing cannot be maintained.

Camps and overnight stays can take place across Victoria with no travel restrictions.

Cross border communities

Those living in NSW or SA border communities can continue to access the ‘border bubble’ using their drivers licence to prove their residential address.  If you live in one of the border communities, you do not need to apply for a permit.  There are, however, different conditions if you have been to an orange zone or red zone outside of the cross-border community, or if you have COVID-19, any symptoms, or are a close contact.  For more information and to find out if your local government area is in the border zone, see Information for cross border communities.
