Acting Principal's Message

Ben Sandison

Dear Families

Despite another period of remote learning being thrust upon us last week, I would like to acknowledge the resilience and compassion demonstrated by not only the children but also the parent community for being supportive of the teachers and staff in the days that followed. I would also like to express an abundance of gratitude and respect to the teaching and support staff for their ability to adapt once again to rapidly changing working and teaching conditions. We are so very lucky.

ย

Personally, I believe that there is no better time to take the reins of the school, than during another snap lockdown, while Liam takes 3 weeks leave. He will be back in week 4, so hold onto the Euro soccer jibes until then.

Junior Joeys

Our Junior Joeys school experience has taken a bit of a battering over the last term because of tighter restrictions, but rest assured, it will be back for term 3 just as soon as we can let people through the gates.

Please if you are on social media, please share our posts to promote Junior Joeys to a broader audience, talk about it to your friends while you wait for your takeaway coffees or walk along the beach. The more we spread the good word of the St Joseph's community, the bigger our community becomes.

Martial Arts Club Before School

It was great to see so many children taking the opportunity to expel some energy last week for the first martial arts before school session. What an amazing way to engage the brain before a school day! If you are interested you can contact the school office for more information or click this link.

Silent Disco

Due to the latest restrictions, the Silent Disco and Parent Wine and Cheese Night will again be postponed. On the positive side, it gives everyone the chance to brush up on their dance moves (see video for some inspiration).

First Holy Communion

Regrettably, next week's Sacrament of First Communion will need to be postponed. We will keep everyone up to date with the rescheduling once we have more information from Father David. In the meantime, we keep those affected profoundly by the recent lockdown in our prayers, particularly the vulnerable in our community.

Things To Look Forward To

Even though covid restrictions continue to get in the way of a "normal" school year, our amazing P&F crew have been working hard behind the scenes to organise some fundraising and community events for this term.ย

Now more than ever, with cancellations and postponements, the school needs the support of the community to raise funds. So keep the loose change from your middle console in the car, run your hand between the cushions on the couch and have a quiet word to the tooth fairy for a pay rise because the events will come thick and fast once we can run these events.

๐Ÿ’™ Newest St Joseph's Family Member ๐Ÿ’™

We are overjoyed to welcome little Grayson Mutimer (8/7/21) to the St Joseph's family, and we congratulate Henry and his wife Elissa on the birth of their gorgeous baby boy. We look forward to watching Henry's beard get progressively greyer, and we brace ourselves for the dad jokes that are sure to flow upon his arrival back to school. We just know that Henry and Elissa will be wonderful parents.ย

The enrolment form is in the mail as we speak ๐Ÿ˜œ.

A reminder that while we are here to help families in any way that we can, we are also bound by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) and Department of Education and Training (DET) guidelines in regard to who is eligible for onsite supervision.ย
