Hi everyone!

Term 3 promises to be a very busy term.

We are keen to support your child/ren to further their independence, skills and knowledge leading into the second half of 2021.

Semester 1 Reports 'Celebration'

Our Semester 1 Reports were a strong indication of the various points of progress that your child/ren has been achieving and striving to achieve thus far. We encourage you to carefully read the assessment scores and comments to gauge a snapshot of your child's/ren's progress this year. This is a key document to refer to when revisiting their PLSP goals when attending our Term 3 Student Support Group meetings (to be held via WebEx or by phone) to commence in Week 3. Your ongoing input is invaluable to this process.

I did note that there were some families that experienced difficulties in receiving their child/ren's Semester 1 Report. If you are yet to receive yours, please email me directly: Daniel.Moloney@education.vic.gov.au

Semester 2 PLSP Reports

In Term 3, having completed our extensive ABLES Assessments and reported to your child's PLSP goals thus far, our teachers will be spending the next 6 weeks revising and formulating new PLSP goals for your child/ren to achieve for the second half of 2021. Once these goals are devised, a copy of these reports will be distributed to families in Week 10 of this term.

Curriculum Units

In Term 3, our schoolwide curriculum unit focuses are:

  • Reading and Viewing: Comparing Fiction and Non-Fiction Texts
  • Science/Humanities: Living Things in our  Local Environment
  • Personal and Social Capabilities Unit: Positive Coping and Anti-Bullying

These units of work are designed to develop a range of skills and to apply their knowledge and experiences to partake in hands on learning activities, project based learning and problem solving tasks throughout these units.

Term 3 Cultural Calendar

In Term 3, we have 3 key school events as organised by both our Student Engagement Team and Student Leadership. This term we are celebrating the following:

  • NAIDOC Day (Theme: Heal Country) - Thursday 22nd July
  • JSA Mini Olympics Extravaganza - Thursday 26th August
  • JSA Recycling Week - All of Week 9 (6th-10th September)

We are planning for our students to relish in the opportunity to explore each event theme by participating in the range of supplementary learning tasks and fun activities that are set.

I look forward to seeing our Student Leaders sharing feedback about each event in our upcoming newsletters.
