Canterbury Girls High School is excited to announce that they have teamed up with industry professionals Deloitte and UiPath to provide a collaborative 10-week program which introduces students to the world of intelligent automation.
What is automation?
Have you ever used a microwave to heat up your food? Or wondered how Spotify puts together playlists specifically for you… and you love every song? That is automation at its finest! There has been a gradual increase in the use of automation technologies over time, and today, automation is more prominent than ever. It can be found in a large range of industries and practices, and having a knowledge of data analysis, automation and artificial intelligence (AI) are skills that are greatly sought after in the workplace.
What is the programme about?
This course will introduce students to the concepts of automation technology, machine learning and AI. In partaking, students will gain
familiarity over common automation practices, use cases and gain hands on practical experience with workplace relevant tools.
The programme will explore ethical conversations surrounding automation technology and the importance of developing trust between humans and machines as automation becomes more prominent in society.
Not everyone working in automation will be entirely technical. To reflect this, the programme will be divided into two streams: technical and non-technical, whereby the theory learned will largely be the same, but the practical components of the programme will differ in technicality. Students will have the choice of streams or can choose to sit across both depending on what they wish to learn from this course and where they believe their strengths lie.

Western is offering free online HSC Study Sessions run by highly qualified teachers and HSC markers covering 14 subjects. The sessions, running 20-24 September, will assist Year 12 students with their final HSC preparation.
The following HSC subjects will be available for students to register and attend online: Advanced and Standard English, Chemistry, Economics, Advanced and Standard Maths, Geography, Business Studies, Biology, PDHPE, Legal Studies, Community and Family Studies, Modern History and Physics. Each online workshop is an invaluable addition to their school studies and will allow them to develop a solid understanding of HSC exam techniques, subject knowledge, and HSC preparation skills.
For further information, visit the Free HSC Study Sessions page.
Our HSC True Reward Early Offer program makes students an early offer into a university degree based on corresponding HSC subject band outcomes, not the ATAR. Why? Because at Western, we recognise that too often, the ATAR system overlooks natural strengths and talent. The program gives school leavers much needed peace of mind, providing students an early offer into most university courses based on their Year 11* or Year 12 results.
*Those that apply using their Year 11 results will need to successfully complete the HSC.
Students can register now. For further detailed information on important key dates, subject band search, table of courses offered through the program with year 11 and year 12 subject band results and frequently asked questions, visit the HSC True Reward page.
