Astrid Bocci Soccer Success!!

As we watch the continued progress of the Matildas at the Olympics it is very noticeable how young a lot of the Australian girls are. Ellie Carpenter, one of the stars of the team, is 21 but made her full senior debut for the Matildas at just 15 years of age!!

At BPS we have one student who is reaching for a similar goal and, with Brisbane 2032 only 11 years away, what a wonderful target to aim for, a home soil Olympics!

Astrid Bocci is in 6C and is playing up an age group at Hampton JSC in the U14 Bayside League. This involves over 7 hours of commitment per week to training and the weekend fixture. But over and beyond this, I am delighted to report that Astrid has been selected into the Melbourne Victory Pre-Academy to prepare her technically for their Elite Girls Program which will commence in December.

This is the first time that a BPS student has been selected into such an elite girls program. But spend just a few minutes with Astrid and you will understand how driven and focused she is. She has a clear vision of what is required to continue her progression over the next few years both on and off the field with her education being a strong priority.

Well done Astrid, we are very proud of your achievement and will be watching your progress with interest over the next few years.
