POP UP Concert

On 21 May, we had our first pop up Performing Arts concert, featuring our very talented VCE Dance and Music students, performing pieces from their end of year repertoires.

The program consisted of two vocalists, Ellie Carter singing 'Make You Feel my Love' and Michaela D’Abate, singing 'Not About Angels' by Birdy, saxophonist Alexia Ritzert playing 'Take 5' composed by Dave Brubeck, pianist Frankie Malignaggi playing 'La Porta del Viono' and a group dance by the Unit 1/2 Dance class.

This concert not only gave our College community the opportunity to come together and see our VCE performers showcase their talents, but it also gave the VCE students an opportunity to practise performing in front of an audience and gain more confidence for the end of year performance exam.

We had an amazing turn out and have since received many commendations from students and teachers. In the coming terms, we hope to have a couple more pop up concerts featuring our musicians and dancers from all year levels.

Year 7 Greek Theatre - Student Reflections

In Drama this term we studied Greek theatre.  At the start of each lesson we played drama games and then we would work on different Greek plays. These included, 'Echo and Narcissus' and 'Orpheus and Eurydice' and a selection of Greek tragedies that we could choose from.  My group chose Medusa.  When we performed the plays, we got to use masks.  It was fun getting to prepare different roles and act as the chorus. Overall, Drama was so much fun this term.

This term we studied Greek theatre.  We acted in plays like 'Echo and Narcissus' and watched some different Greek tragedies adapting them into our own scripts and plays. This topic was fun to learn about and I really enjoyed it.

This term in Drama we did Greek theatre. We performed and researched lots of Greek plays, like 'Medea' and 'Echo and Narcissus'.  We learnt about the history and conventions of Greek theatre. We also learnt how important masks were and how prisoners would be let out of jail to watch the Greek theatre plays.  One of our Drama assessments this term was to find a Greek tragedy, write an adaptation, rehearse it and eventually perform it to be assessed. We had lots of fun getting into our groups, rehearsing and performing our story.

VCE Drama Performance Evening

On Wednesday 26 May we were pleased to be able to present the Unit 1 and Unit 3 Drama ensemble performances to a small, restricted audience of family and friends in the Auditorium.

The Unit 3 students presented ‘The Rise of Social Media’, which examined the dilemma faced by society with increasing technological advances and growing intrusion into people's lives.

Unit 1 students presented ‘Gender Equality, are we there yet?’ exploring themes of gender equality, feminism, masculinity and gender identity.

These Drama ensembles require students to follow a play-making process that included in depth research, collaboration and rehearsal to achieve a devised performance that covered an extensive range of criteria.

Congratulations to all our VCE Drama students for their creative and insightful work on this performance evening.
