Religious Education

I will instruct you and teach you the way you

should go;

I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

Psalm 32:8

One of the classic definitions of Religious Education (or theology in general) came from St Anselm in the eleventh century: fides quaerens intellectum or “faith seeking understanding”. It is the privilege of the teachers of Religious Education at Kilbreda College to guide the students in their search for a deeper understanding of the nature of religious truth in the Catholic context.

The goal of the Religious Education curriculum is to develop the students’ knowledge of life lived in a multi-faith pluralistic modern world; a life lived in dialogue with, and sometimes in conflict with that world.

All staff at the College are afforded the opportunity to continue their faith development and are encouraged to participate in workshops and seminars that provide time and prompts to delve into their own faith journey.  This term staff have participated in a number of these opportunities:

The World is Charged with the Glory of God (Sr Anne Boyd)

God is everywhere. Sunday Mass is not the only time that we connect with our faith and our God. In living our every day, opportunities abound to have spiritual connection and renewal, if we take the time to listen to the still small voice of our God.

Come and Rest a While ]

(Paul Spence)

“Enlarge the site of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.” (Isaiah 54:2)

In a world that is so busy and where it is so easy to be consumed by the demands of ‘life’, it is important for our souls to take the time to rest, to open our ‘tents’ and invite others in.

Engaging your Faith Series

(Catholic Theological College)

This series of eight workshops provided staff with a range of different topics to explore. Many of our teaching staff participated in a number of the workshops on offer in order to expand their knowledge of scripture and to continue to grow in their own faith journey.
