YEAR 10 MOCK INTERVIEWS

On Tuesday 20th & Thursday 22nd April every Year 10 student participated in a Mock Interview Activity.  The purpose of the activity was to give students an experience on how face to face interviews are conducted.

Brighton Rotary and Stride Education organised volunteers to meet with our students. Every Year 10 student walked into the interview with a Resume and Cover letter. Feedback on the application and presentation of their Resume and Cover letter, their attire and interview performance were given.

Preparation for the Mock Interviews were conducted during their PEP classes. The first session was dedicated to the process of writing a Cover letter and Resume. The second session informed students about how to conduct themselves during an interview. Sample interview questions were given to students and there was discussion on the best ways of answering the questions that would highlight their strengths. Every student will receive a Mock Interview evaluation report.

Below are some comments from our interviewers about overall performance of our students.

I was impressed with the confidence and enthusiasm of the students I interviewed today. They were well prepared and had carefully thought through answers to questions as well as offering questions at the end of the interview. Every student should be proud of themselves and what they have achieved so far. Lorraine Ellis

I’ve really been impressed by the level of preparation the students have achieved. Their presentation, eye contact and general self -awareness have shined through every single interview. Nicole Salinger, Stride Education

The students were exceptional. Local businesses would be lucky to bring these young people on board and should be give them a chance. The program was a fantastic opportunity for both students and volunteer interviewers. James Newbury, Member for Brighton

The students were well prepared and presented. They had unique insights of what they want to do or who they want to be in the future. I was impressed at how talented they were in the interview. The IPREP program is amazing for providing this valuable training experience for students and volunteers. Glad to be a volunteer today at Brighton Secondary College.
