Year 7 Science Simple Machines

As a part of the Simple Machines unit, students were using the LittleBits kits to work on creating a machine that can make life easier. This group task asked students to focus on their understanding of how levers, inclined planes, wheels, axles, and even gears are used in everyday life. Due to remote learning, plans changed slightly and students were asked to create their own simple machine with items that could be found around the home. This is what some students came up with!

I made a crane out of cardboard, skewers, string, and a small plastic cup. The crane is an example of a pulley. The skewer at the bottom wheel has to be pulled in order for the crane to work.
