Student Wellbeing
In these very challenging times for all of us, it is important that we remind ourselves that there is no me in TEAM and that together we protect others as well as ourselves.
From a wellbeing perspective it is important that if we are not feeling okay or we are anxious and worried about something that we reach out to either our homeroom/mentor teacher or Year Level Leader who will be able to support us through or find other supports, such as counselling, in order to help us.
It is our intention that while we have this split situation with Year 12 students at school, Year 11 students doing exams and Years 7-10 students working remotely, that we will send out helpful wellbeing tips each day to all of our students to help them continue to feel connected no matter if they are working onsite or offsite.
We would also encourage all of our parents to make contact with either your child’s Homeroom or Mentor teacher or Year Level Leader if you are concerned about they may be coping during these times.
The sooner we are made aware of a student who needs extra support the sooner we can intervene to provide that support.
Year 7-10 students who may need to come into school, as it is a more appropriate place for them and their learning only need to contact their homeroom or Year Level Leader to facilitate this process.
To use a saying that has been used a lot in the last 18 months – WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. As the road ahead has become more challenging, we can work our way through to the other side together and hopefully be back to being onsite and at school as soon as possible.
While this is the case, we are still moving forward and have some reminders for our student’s presently onsite:
Uniform Expectations
Year 11/12 students coming on to the campus are to be wearing their complete winter uniform, Health and Physical Education uniform should only be worn on the days when practical Physical Education, Health & Human Development or Sport and Recreation are timetabled.
Any family in need of assistance in this area only needs to contact their Year Level Leader or myself at school so that we can support our families to meet the expectation of being in full winter uniform.
Leadership Process begins for 2021
We have started the process of Student Leadership selection for 2022 with Year 11 students submitting their leadership booklet with a view of taking on a leadership role in 2022. All Year 11 students have until the end of this term to submit their leadership booklet. We will begin the next part of the process in term 3.
Child Safety Expectations
As we move back into remote learning, please be assured that all of our staff are very aware of the expectations in relation to the Child Safety Standards and their obligation to keep all of our students safe even in this different setting. We continue to offer our staff professional learning about how this may look in remote learning as this is very much a priority for all staff in their daily work with students.
Child Safety Committee – Parent Representative
We are seeking some support from a parent who is willing to commit to being part of our Child Safety Committee. The main work of this committee involves our adherence to the child safety standards. If you are interested please do not hesitate to contact me at school. Your involvement and contribution will be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to a new member of our staff
It is with much pleasure that we announce that Ngunsang Liathang has joined our staff as our new Burmese Family Liaison Officer. Ngunsang will be here on Monday and Friday of each week and has already reached out to all of our Burmese families to both introduce herself and see how students have been going during remote learning. If you need her assistance in any way please do not hesitate to contact her at the College or by email. Ngunsang will be doing a summary of each newsletter and sending it to our families so that we can continue to build our relationships with our families.
Wellbeing Tip for us all
During these times, it is important that all of our students, staff and parents have brain breaks, go for a walk, and play with their pets or just doing something to break up the day. We need to all look after ourselves so we can look after each other.
Stay Safe
