Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we celebrate 200 years of Catholic Education. Over the past 200 years of Education Catholic Schools have grown to become the largest provider of school in Australia (outside government schools) with one in five school age students attending a Catholic School.
It is by no small part of Parish Communities that Catholic Education continues to thrive. Thank you to Father Linh and Father Greg, the St Fidelis Parish, and families like your own who, over the past 100 years (we celebrate in 2027) have been the cornerstone of what our school has become today.
‘In a spirit of sorrow and forgiveness, we, the Catholic Bishops of Australia wish to record our commitment to continue the healing process for the benefit of victims of the unjust policies of the past, to support the just needs of indigenous people today and to contribute to the quest for national reconciliation.
It is our prayerful hope that this commitment will help our nation grow
in unity and live as one people with dignity and in peace.‘

National Reconciliation Week is a week set aside by the nation as a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
As a school community, we will gather for Whole School Prayer on Friday May 28th with a focus on praying for Reconciliation between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Islander peoples. Mr MacGregor and the Year 3/4 students will lead us in prayer.
Group One: Saturday May 29th – 6:00pm
Group Two: Sunday May 30th-11:00am
Group Three: Saturday June 5th-6:00pm
Group Fours: Sunday June 6th-11:00am
Over the next two weekends our Year 4 students will be receiving their First Eucharist during our usual Parish community Masses. The invitation to participate in the Eucharistic celebration or the Mass is there for all of us.
As Catholics we are asked to attend Mass each week, to engage with fellow believers and to partake in the Eucharist; nourishment for our daily spiritual journey. Each time we gather for Eucharist we believe Jesus to be present in those gathered, in the word proclaimed and the bread and wine received.
If you are able to attend one of these celebration masses, please join the community in supporting and praying for our children as they take another step in their life as Catholics.
Another way we have demonstrating our faith in action is by participating in the Vinnies Winter Appeal for both men and women who find themselves seeking refuge or shelter. Thank you to Daniel Sportelli for the coordination of this appeal and our Social justice Leaders for their participation. Thank you to the families who have already donated items for this appeal and if you are able there is still time to send your items to school.
See Learning and Teaching page for times for these sessions.
School fees were distributed last week. Our school does rely on school fees for many recurrent costs so prompt payment is appreciated. If any families need to discuss alternative arrangements for the payment of fees, please contact me directly.
The office is open from 8:30 to 4:00pm each day if you would like to pay in person. During this COVID time, direct debit is preferred. If you pay by direct debit, please use the bank details below:
