Year 12 Camp, 2021
By Demi Gong, Year 12
I had heard Year 12 camp was the greatest camp of all! We do not have camp back in Shanghai, so I was excited, even during the Term 1 holidays. To my surprise, it was better than I thought.
I particularly loved the film we watched —Troy. Also, I enjoyed the view from the campsite. It was a perfect opportunity to connect to the natural environment and see wildlife such as kangaroos and different species of birds. The African dancing and drumming were my favourite activities. During this activity, we not only learnt the dancing and drumming skills, but also gained an insight into African culture.
The camp was also an opportunity to connect with the entire year level as well as teachers through team activities. Although team activities were a challenge for me, as I am not a sports person, it was lovely to get involved and work with students I do not usually speak to. Furthermore, the Head of Junior School’s presentation about sleeping strategies and our VCE Coordinator’s presentation about healthy eating were very helpful to help me rest well and have a balanced diet, which is crucial to perform my best in VCE.
Overall, Year 12 camp was a great time to relax and enjoy a break from the stress of studies.
