International Students celebrate Lunar New Year
To celebrate the Lunar New Year, the school organised a dinner gathering on February 14 at the Gold Leaf Chinese Restaurant Preston. International students from different countries enjoyed the traditional Asian foods and celebrated the Lunar New Year - the Year of Dog. The students were grateful and delighted to attend the event as it acknowledged their cultural identity and created a sense of belonging. It is important for our young people from around the world to share the time together during this festive season while they are away from family.
Talented musical students Yixiao LI, Hoang Nha Nguyen and Jinxuan LI gave a brilliant performance to add to the celebration atmosphere over the dinner.
International Student Office
In the early morning on Tuesday February 13 the school’s social staff room was a very happy place when many staff shared a sumptuous breakfast with 25 Year 10 International Students from 6 different countries, during the annual Year 10 International Student Breakfast Event. Ms Harrap, Ms Hill, Ms Wang & Mr McDonald gave a speech to welcome the new Year 10 International Student Group and to thank them for their contribution to the school’s multicultural community and their positive influence to peers.
School leaders and teachers gave best wishes as well as tips for International Students to achieve success during their time at Northcote High School.
The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all students and staff.
