Focus on Psychology

Psychology is one of five science subjects offered at VCE level at MGSC.  After English it is the most popular subject studied at Unit 3 & 4 across the state. It is also popular at MGSC with a number of classes running at Unit 1 & 2 and Unit 3 & 4.  The course covers studies relating to: 

• How are behaviour and mental processes shaped?
• How do external factors influence behaviour and mental processes?
• How does experience affect behaviour and mental processes?
• How is wellbeing developed and maintained?

Before returning to remote learning (and before mask and other restrictions) Psychology studies participated in practical studies and experiments.  

Completing jigsaws (above) was to understand the processes of visual sensation and perception.

Groups undertook a classically condition task (below), getting a participant to flinch when the word 'hat' was said, after repeated association with a water spray.
