Yellow Group Yarnings

Last week, Yellow Group began to explore some common Aboriginal symbols. Whilst there are over 250 Indigenous Australian languages, there are some symbols that are common among many. We explored these, learning symbols for 'camp' 'tracks' 'trees' 'mountains' 'rain' and 'waterhole'.

The children practised these on their individual whiteboards as each one was introduced and then told a story by decoding what Hayley was writing with the symbols. Afterwards, paper, pastels and some symbol cards were made available and some children further extended on this learning by creating their own stories and experimenting with drawing and smudging the pastels.

Crazy Hair Day

Yellow Group finished the craziness of Term 2 with a Crazy Hair Day! The children loved showing their individuality with some out there hair dos to celebrate reaching the half way mark of the kindergarten year.
