ART EXHIBITION IN CPA

A range of Junior School artworks is on display in the Centre for Performing Arts until Week 7, Term 3.

The Junior School artworks include:

  • Pre-Primary: ‘My Walk’ – captures long winding pathways, steep hills and bumpy tracks (ink and fine marker pen); Painting with Scissors – taking inspiration from French artist Henri Matisse, students produced paper cut-outs exploring natural shapes (heliograph prints on fabric, watercolours).
  • Year 2: Contour Shapes – explores line, shape and pattern. Simple geometric shapes form intricate puzzle pieces in coloured card.
  • Years 3, 4 and 5: Organic Forms – depict optical illusions on paper exploring the relationship between colours and three-dimensional forms (fine permanent pen, coloured felt markers).
  • Year 4: Cityscapes – students were inspired by Cubist-style architecture and bright colour schemes after exploring the artwork ‘Castle and Sun’ (tulle fabric, pastel chalk pencils on black paper).

Parent Feedback Survey

This year, as in previous years, I will invite parents of each year group to participate in a short survey so we can gauge how well we are meeting our goals and your expectations. Your anonymous contributions are valuable in letting us know if there are any general trends or issues that need to be addressed. Whilst these surveys are useful, if you have any specific concerns, I encourage you to meet with the classroom teacher, the Assistant Deans of Junior School, the Early Childhood Coordinator or me, as appropriate, as soon as possible so that concerns can be addressed directly. We know that we do our most effective work when it is in partnership with you as parents.

KINDERGARTEN FIRE DAY

The Kindergarten Outdoor Learning Program was run on the College oval in the Bush School space on Monday, 27 July. The program allowed students to partake in an exploration walk through the campus to collect colourful gum leaves and bark from the ground. Once the students arrived at Bush School, they had the opportunity to sit around the campfire and were able to smell and feel the fire. The leaves the students had collected from their walk were used in art session and wrapped in material to create an eco-dye. This material was then placed on the fire to further draw the colour from the natural materials (like a BBQ, as commented by many students). The morning was a wonderful success and students can’t wait to see their finished products!
