INTERHOUSE CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL

We are very excited to announce that the 2020 Interhouse Cross Country Carnival is on next week!

The Carnival will be held in its usual format (however, with Senior School students only) on the College oval and surrounds next Tuesday, 11 August, Week 4 of Term 3.

This is a fantastic opportunity for all runners to demonstrate their ability and a great opportunity for everyone else to participate in an event that encourages healthy levels of physical activity as a community.

The Student Bulletin with all information regarding this event will be emailed to all Senior School Students and can also be found on MyASC.

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL AND ATHLETICS TRAINING

The 2020 ASC Senior School Interhouse Athletics Carnival is scheduled to take place on the College oval on Thursday, 27 August from approximately 9.00am to 3.25pm. It is an excellent day, with many outstanding student performances on display and lots of fun for the whole College community. More details about the event will be shared in the coming weeks.

ATHLETICS TRAINING TERM 3

Athletics Training takes place each Thursday from 3.30pm–4.30pm until Week 9.

Students are able to come down and train for any event they choose with coaching provided by our Health and Physical Education staff, Old Saints, Year 11 and 12 students and experienced parents. If you would like to be involved, please meet at the Athletics Shed (next to the Aquatic Centre) on the Oval.

Parents with Athletics experience who are interested in coaching are asked to please contact Sports Development Coordinator, Mr Joshua Coleman on joshua.coleman@allsaints.wa.edu.au

Long- and short-distance running training in conjunction with the Running Club will take place each Wednesday and Friday until Week 9, 7.00am–8.00am.

Breakfast will be provided after the morning sessions. We are in ‘B’ Division for Interschool Athletics, and to achieve a positive result in 2020 we need as many students at training as possible. Training is valuable for students in preparation for the Interhouse Athletics Carnival, and it is also a great way to have fun with your friends.

If any family or friends of College students are interested in helping us by cooking some toast and helping our students refuel after morning training sessions, please contact the Director of Sport and Health and Physical Education Miss Britt Gray on britt.gray@allsaints.wa.edu.au

GUERNSEY DAY

Guernsey Day will take place in Week 4 of Term 3 on Thursday, 13 August. Don your favourite sport guernsey and celebrate your team! There will be a number of events on the day, including a Tutor Group quiz, staff vs student sporting match and a sausage sizzle at Lunchtime.

Please bring a gold coin donation if you wish to wear a sports guernsey and this will be donated to a local charity.

Funds from the sausage sizzle will go to the Friends of Sport.

BADMINTON TRAINING

Badminton training was extremely popular again during Term 2, with students from Years 7 – 12 in regular attendance. It is fantastic to see so many students engaging in the sport of Badminton and developing their skills under the coaching of Andrew Chai.

Training will continue again on Tuesday afternoons for Senior School students during Term 3, however, with the inclusion of Junior School Training, the Senior School will now train from 4.30pm–5.30pm in the ISC. Further details and student sign up can be found on RollCall, under the Cocurricular tab on MyASC and we welcome any new players – all you need is your sport uniform!

TERM 3 SPORTING OPPORTUNITIES

With many of our sporting events disrupted during Term 2 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am pleased to announce that many of the regular Term 3 opportunities will run as normal, through both Associated and Catholic Colleges of WA (ACC) and School Sport WA.

In particular, the upcoming Boys and Girls Year 10 AFL Carnivals, Year 10 Girls Netball Carnival and ACC Junior and Senior Basketball Championships, provide our students with the opportunity to showcase their talents and represent the College at an interschool level.

A full list of these opportunities can be found on the ‘Interschool Sport’ tab on MyASC and has also been emailed to all students in Year 7-12.
