Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge
Wow! I have just been in to check how we are going as a school. We have some amazing students reading here, especially in this very disrupted and abnormal year.
This year the challenge awards badges for each milestone reached. By increasing the number of books in the challenge students get the opportunity to get more badges. Once they have qualified for the original challenge, I can increase the number of titles that they are being challenged to meet and they can earn extra badges.
We have 17 active readers at the Junior School, and I have had to increase the number of books in the personal challenges of: John Fenton, Harley Kearns, Hattie Nicholls, Ruby Price, Jessica Templeton, Belle Wallis, and Jack Wallis.
Our number of readers at Senior School is smaller overall and there are few who have read many books. I have just increased Molly Mecham’s challenge total. Well done Molly!
Please note, the challenge will end later than first advertised which will be the 19th of September. At the start of this week there were 40 days left.
The value of reading cannot be underestimated. Its positive impact affects empathy, imagination and academic results. It is always a good time to read with or to your children no matter how old they are!
Best wishes to all families.
