I choose to stand in support of our leaders.

 

A person’s character comes to the fore in uncertain times. As I watched the Victorian Premier deliver his 36th consecutive press conference, I could not help but admire his courage and perseverance.  Every leader is learning on the run and the political badge they wear is irrelevant compared to the pandemic confronting them. It is most important that what we give all our political leaders strength, not grief. As former NSW Premier Mike Baird recently stated “When the dust settles there will be time for reflection. And when mistakes are made there will be accountability.”  I encourage all our community to stand strong in crisis, adhere to the advice of our leaders and remain connected. 26th American President, Teddy Roosevelt foresaw such times when he concluded:

   

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.” 

 

Respect is a core College value and respect for authority will place us in good stead over the next weeks.  I sincerely thank you for your continued support.
