Teachers Tales

Best Wishes to our Attendance Officer

Our Attendance Officer Evelyn Bolte is leaving us for a little while to start a new chapter in her life. Along with her husband Shane Asbury they embark on the journey of parenthood as they start their family - we wish them all the happiness in the world!

French Friday

To celebrate Bastille Day on Tuesday, our staff has a French Theme this Friday for 'The Huddle'

Singing in another language

The highlight for me in celebrating Bastille day was the implicit understanding that learning a second language is a great skill to have as it opens the doors to many opportunities - including intellectual, cultural, social, economic.

Connecting with people and things through a shared language adds a richness to the communication and our language teachers all share their enthusiasm to provide this experience to our students. Language learning in the remote environment, while strained, is continuing with the many language learning apps available and it is important for students to listen to and take the opportunity to speak whenever they can.

Music is a great way to consolidate understanding and by listening to the sounds of a song in a language other than English and reading the lyrics for the rhyme, rhythm, word choices and meaning, a student gains so much especially by the instructive means of instruments, melodies, emotions expressed through music.

During this remote period, learn how to sing a song in a language other than English. What a great use of time!
