From our Assistant Principal

In The Classrooms

This week Christian, Carol and I have all spent time teaching a range of classes across the school.

Our Prep students have been learning all about gratitude. Carol taught a Resilience Project lesson with some Prep students about who they are grateful for in their family. Students shared about how families can support each other and what they were grateful for in their families.

In the Junior School the students were reading ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ by Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers. The students looked at the features of the letters that are written in the text. They then wrote their own letters back to their favourite coloured crayon, ensuring that they used the features of a letter they had learned about. These included the date, a greeting, a paragraph (or more) of information, a closing and a signature.

Senior School students are in the depths of their own personal inquiry projects related to their Integrated Unit ‘Night of the Notables’. All students have chosen a ‘notable’ person who has made a positive contribution to society. They researched their person and created a website which included all the key information about their person. Christian supported the students to edit their inquiry projects, including their monologues which are being presented to their peers.
