The Peppercorns 10s & 11s

And we’re back… It was so good to be together in the same space and to reflect on our journey over the last 8 weeks. The Peppercorns  jumped right into it and continued on with what we considered to be the best ‘bits’ of home learning. A highlight was the personal project, which the children worked on over the course of Home Learning. After much discussion about our planning during Zoom sessions, we were all keen to hear about each other’s research. The children shared the inspiration behind their projects and presented the tangible pieces they created. What an amazing privilege it was to personally share in the learning that we saw from a distance during the last eight weeks.

We decided to continue our research on earthquakes and put our journalism skills into practise. We investigated major earthquakes and recorded interesting facts and details about how they changed the Earth’s surface and the damage they caused. The children took on the role of reporter and recorded a short news flash to present their findings. Don’t forget to check these out on Seesaw!  Our next challenge…to build a ‘shake table’ that simulates an earthquake. An even bigger challenge… to design and build a structure to withstand the shake table. Stay tuned for our results!
