Semester Reports

Reports will be published to the Compass platform on Thursday afternoon, and I am delighted to say that they are a wonderful representation of the strong relationships that guide our teaching and learning together here at Arlington. It has been an honour to read the reflections that parents have contributed, celebrating their child's accomplishments. These are complemented by the rich reflections that our students have written from the Lighthouse...

"I liked zoom a little bit, but I like real school more. I missed my friends the most."

Loft Room

"I worked on being an inquirer because I wanted to learn more about ecology and history. I am very curious about everything."

Sunroom

"I developed the learner profile attribute of balanced. An example of this was that my time table was very organised and well spread out."

...all the way to the Elevens where children reflected on the challenges they faced, the action they took to overcome these,  as well as the Learner Profile attributes they developed.

"I was challenged by my report not looking much like an information report and not having the necessary information in there. I overcame this challenge by taking on corrections and feedback from my teachers and doing a little bit more research."

"Learning at home I have been working on developing the attribute of ‘communicator’ because I sometimes find it hard to ask for help or say what I need."

The Three 'R's;

Rest, Relaxation and

Regeneration

We are all looking forward to the three week holiday which begins for our community on Friday.  It is true that for many of us, the holiday which fell between terms one and two did not serve to provide rest, relaxation or regeneration, as it was a time of such deeply felt uncertainty.

These next three weeks offer us the chance to accomplish all of those things.  While some of us may go away, and others opt for a 'staycation', we hope that everyone in our Arlington Community stays safe and enjoys a time of peace.

Thank you

For your support, your encouragement and for your understanding in sharing the uncertainty that was Term Two. From all of us, to all of you.

ART

The Art Room has been a hive of activity since the children have reinhabited it. I would like to say thank you for the incredible work the children did during Distance Learning. They were creative and resourceful, using whatever materials they could lay their hands on to create their artworks. They showed up for Zoom sessions and engaged whole-heartedly and with good humour and understanding when I struggled with some of the technical issues. I would also like to thank all of the people: mums, dads, grandparents, brothers and sisters who supported the children and enabled us all to continue our learning relationship together. Have a safe and happy holiday.

PEPPERCORNS

It has been so lovely having the children back in the classroom. It hasn’t been so lively for a while! The sounds of laughter really warmed our hearts. During this short period of time at school, the children had the opportunity to socialise with their friends as well as reflect and share their experiences with home learning. We would like to acknowledge the amazing work the children did during home learning by taking responsibility for classroom communication, managing their time and being open to feedback. We would also like to thank you for all the support and feedback you have given us during this time. Happy holidays and see you in Term Three.

SUNROOM

Thank you all for your strength, patience, endurance and understanding through the Distance Learning period. It was a challenge for every single one of us! Congratulations! We made it!

KINDERGARTEN

The Kindergarten team would like to thank all in our community for the support and patience during this term.  As a community we have been challenged and extended to interact, to connect and to learn in different ways. We are so very impressed with the rich learning and growth that all children experienced while learning at home and at school. We all showed our flexibility and open-mindedness to new routines and approaches to learning and living due to the pandemic. We all have so very much to be proud of and thankful for. Stay safe and THANK YOU to our community for the ongoing support and care shared.

To our wonderful community of Parents, Carers, Arlington staff and Students,

Thank you for your efforts so far in 2020, let us continue to go onwards and upwards together! Michelle.

LIGHTHOUSE

A huge thank you to all the Lighthouse parents for your support and understanding during this, at times, challenging and uncertain term. I really enjoyed seeing the different approaches to learning that you all took to during the home learning program. I am also thankful that we are all back at school now! Have a great break and see you all in Term 3.

LOFT ROOM

Thank you to the parents and students for all the kind words, messages and support that was offered over this very challenging time for us all. We loved making contact each week with all the families and hearing their home stories.  It was wonderful to see all the amazing home learning that families were offering.
