The students were asked to summarise the story and describe the actions of the son and the father.

We  created a 3 Way Venn Diagram and used adjectives to show the character traits of people in the story, ‘The Prodigal Son.’

There once was a father with two sons. The youngest son wanted his share of his father’s money before he died and his father agreed. A few days later the youngest son decided to pack his bags and travelled to a distant country. There, he spent all his money wastefully and went to dinner parties every night. When he had no money he worked to feed the pigs and went hungry he ate the pigs scraps. He decided he would go home and tell his father “Father I have sinned against you.  I am not worthy of being called your son.” But when the youngest was walking home his father saw his son and said “ you were lost now you are found, you were dead and now you are raised to life”

The father was disappointed that his son was being selfish and only thought of himself. Later he was just happy that his son had come home. He loved him and was so happy and forgiving.

The Prodigal Son was wanting a new life and wanted to start again. He didn’t think about his family.  He selfishly went away and then spent all his money. He was brave when he decided to ask for forgiveness.
