News

Dear Families,

Our Prep, Year 1 and 2 students have settled very quickly back into school life. We have  been pleasantly surprised how seemless the transition has been. Teachers have also been amazed by the growth in student's  learning. This is  credit to the well planned online activities uploaded  by the staff as well as the support the children received from their parents.

The Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students continue to learn remotely

Thankyou to our community for respecting the rules and keeping dropoff and pick up fluid.

Staff News

Tomorrow is Anna Plackett's last day before she commences her Maternity Leave. Kate Foley will take over from Anna in  Prep/1AP.  Kate has been on the Trinity Staff for many years and has been working part time over the last couple of years. It will be an exciting time for both teachers.

Remote Learning Feedback

We are well aware that parents play a crucial role in supporting their children’s learning, and levels of parental engagement are consistently associated with better academic outcomes. Evidence suggests that effective parental engagement can lead to learning gains of +3 months over the course of a year.  As our students return to school we are clearly seeing this for ourselves. We are very keen to seek your feedback around your experience of Remote Learning to help us build a new normal. We have already collected feedback from staff and over the next week our students will offer their thought around how their experiences help us capture what new horizons have opened up for all of us.

Semester One Reports

As our school moved to remote learning as a result of COVID-19, our usual ways of working and engaging with students have looked different in Term 2. Included in this change has been how we assess and report on student learning. Our school, teachers, students and families have all had to adapt, change and respond to the landscape – sometimes on a daily basis. There have been countless positive opportunities and new learning, but there have also been challenges and we have each responded as best we can.

As we prepare to report on your child’s progress, we would ask you to appreciate that the content on which we report is reduced, as the usual assessments undertaken in the everyday classroom have not been possible this term.

Teachers have used a broad evidence-base to make their own balanced assessments of your child’s progress at this point in time. Such evidence includes: Term 1 assessments, student-led conversations, home learning tasks, teacher observations, notes and work samples.

In that context, this report will look different from previous reports. Following the advice of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), Victorian Department of Education and Training, and Catholic Education Commission of Victoria Ltd (CECV), and collaboration between our Learning and Teaching Team, this report will provide:

  • Subject Overview
  • A succinct descriptive assessment of student learning achievement, based on the Achievement Standards in the Victorian Curriculum F–10
  • A comment on how your child has adjusted to the remote and flexible learning environment, with reference to the ‘Personal and Social Capability’ curriculum.

There will be no A-E dots this semester.

The staff are already writing reports having not seem your child since March or only having just seen them in last couple of days. This will be reflective when you receive them in week 11.

We will also offer you to opportunity to talk to the teacher about your child's report in Week 11 via Google Meets. More details will follow

New Garden Beds

It is the first of two new garden beds which were donated very kindly and generously from Bunnings Collingwood. We are awaiting a load of garden soil and then we can start our new planting. Thanks Lorraine for putting this quite complicated piece together.

Have a good weekend
