Virtual cross country results 

What a commendable effort from our MGSC students who participated in our first ever Virtual Cross Country. How impressive it was to see the varying distances tracked and recorded many of which were beyond the minimum 3km usual requirement. 

Now that all the results have been tallied and house points have been allocated, I am pleased to announce the top three place getters overall were:

• 3rd – Mackenzie Scott (Year 10)
• 2nd-  Millie Belleville (Year 12)
• 1st – Dana Bahlieda (Year 9)

Each participant was awarded 10 house points with the overall house totals:

MGSC GPS Picture Challenge

As we head closer to the all students returning to MGSC, your challenge is to create the most interesting or creative picture using Strava. When you participate in any form of activity of your choice, remember to track your route, aiming to draw something creative.

House Writing Initiative

Last week saw our school community with a different challenge. Students were encouraged to “write” their house name out without the use of a screen or electronic device or any writing item. Each submission were awarded 30 points. Standings are:

Did you know that every design you submit for the House mascot design competition before 22 June earns 10 points for your house? Although the purpose of the competition is to determine the new house mascots, the 2020 House Leaders thought it would be a great idea to help build up some House points too.

Our current point leaderboard is:  

Jackson: 120, McKellar: 40, Kenny: 30, Melba: 20 

Important:  Please remember that this competition is a great way to show off your original designs. Considering the amount of hard work put into designing a mascot, it would be unfair to accept any design that has been copied, traced, or recoloured from the internet. It’s ok to use a picture to help you visualise your design, but unfortunately we cannot accept any design that is not original work. If you feel your design falls into this category, please use the remaining time to change your submission otherwise your earned points will be deducted from the leaderboard. Keep up the great work MGSC – there will be plenty more opportunities to engage in our virtual house events going forward.
