Selamat siang!

Congratulations to everyone (families included!) for making it to the last week of a very strange Term 2! We could not be more proud of the flexibility that students have shown at home and at school and we wish everyone a very safe and relaxing holidays!

Last week in Maths, we began to investigate perimeter and area. We defined perimeter as the distance around the outside of a 2D shape and area as the space inside a 2D shape. You might like to see if students can remember this information at home! This week, we are going to continue using these skills as we begin our measurement project. Look out for these on Seesaw at a later date!

In Literacy, students have enjoyed creating an information report about an animal of their choice. We have spent a lot of time progressing through the writing process to edit and improve our work. Students will finalise their reports this week and reflect on their achievements over the past 11 weeks in their final Term Reflection. In Reading, we are continuing to look at summarising both fiction and non-fiction texts with the ‘SWBST’ and ‘3, 2, 1’ strategies. You might like to ask for more explanation about these strategies at home! We are looking at the important ideas in texts and thinking about any questions or further research that our reading can prompt.

During our Guided Inquiry sessions, students have been researching a famous explorer and learning about the achievements and obstacles their explorers faced. This week, we will present our collaborative research projects to the class.Science has seen us investigating living and non-living things. We have had some great discussions about what makes something living or not - ‘fire’ proved to spark different opinions!

The 3/4 teachers have been so excited to have students back in the classroom and we are looking forward to the last week of term!

Terima kasih and have a wonderful week!
