Year 6

Assistant Principal's Report

And we're back!

It seems like a lifetime ago since we were all on-site together - so many things in our world have changed!  It's great to see all of our students settle back into the school routine in a positive way.  The classrooms are buzzing and there are smiles on faces as our students catch up with their teacher and classmates face-to-face again.

These next few months are extremely busy for our Senior Students and their families. Secondary School Preferences have now been submitted - what a task this was in the current climate! Having to choose schools without the usual tours, interviews and information nights was a challenge for many.  Please note that you are able to change your preferences if you wish, just give the office a call and we will sort that out for you.

Our Year 6 students worked on a fabulous project throughout the Remote Learning period. Having to plan a trip to another country was engaging and allowed students to integrate many skills including research, note taking, summarising, geographical knowledge, mathematical operations, presentation skills and public speaking techniques. The variety of countries chosen was amazing (although the United States seems to be a popular destination) as were the different ways students chose to present their projects.  It was wonderful to also see families getting involved in researching and planning this project together - I know that I certainly learnt lots of things and have developed a bit of a travel 'wish list' as we went along!

In these next 2 weeks, it's important that our students consolidate their school routines again. School holidays will be upon us before we know it and then we begin our Senior Students' last semester of Primary School!  Setting up good routines, study habits and management of time will help all students develop the skills they need to be successful in Secondary School.

Don't forget to keep making your camp payments - we are still planning to visit Canberra in November.  Should we be forced to cancel, a full refund will be offered.

Have a wonderful fortnight ahead!
