INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

Valentina Aloysius (Year 10)

Remote Learning

All of our Instrumental Music teachers have been busy this term teaching students remotely, which has been a great opportunity for students to take a break from their screens during online learning.

Students have also been invited to perform as part of the NEVR Virtual Concert Band which will also run remotely.  Students are given pieces to practice, then submit a video of their recorded performance. This is then edited together with other students in the region to form an entire concert band.

We look forward to sharing this with the school community during Term 3.

We wish Ms Cumming well as she takes Long Service Leave for the remainder of the term and welcome Mr Graham, who will be taking her music classes.

Please contact Ms Goode if you have any Instrumental Music enquiries.

We look forward to seeing our wonderful students back at school in the coming weeks.

'LHS Isolation Band'

RIPTIDE Performance

In a time of social isolation Lilydale High students, ex-students and teachers have combined to present this video.

We may be caught in a 'Riptide of Remote Learning' - but as a community, we can all join together and continue to achieve excellence in learning, resilience in life and thriving as a community.

Featuring students, ex-students and staff performing on their instruments.  All of the sound is produced by those featured and mixed, mastered and produced by Ms Cumming and Miss Wells (Music Department staff).

The performance was also briefly shown on the TODAY SHOW on Monday 11 May.

Thanks to all who participated and for their time to perform and record this little isolation band project.

Friday Themed Meet Classes with VCE Musos

 'In the Hood'

Students in VCE Music Performance have been enjoying Friday 'Meet' themes in their classes as a celebration of the week and weekend coming.

Students participated in 'Flanny Friday' with many wood-choppers seen onscreen doing music theory.

'Hoodie Friday' (pictured) came next with many 8Mile looking musos, 'In the Hood!' working on their performance pieces.

Friday May 8, saw students given the theme 'Fish Friday'. Onscreen students improvised their creativity to the max, with some holding fishing instructions, a drawn fish (both on paper and in the chat using punctuation), playdough, craft fish and even a real fish in a bowl whilst 'Under the Sea' was played before beginning Aural theory work.

Happy THEMED Friday!

Per, our Brass teacher at Lilydale High School is part of the orchestra!

Every Wednesday at 7 pm, a new episode is recorded at home for every musician of the orchestra and then mixed with some fine artists.  All episode's can be watched on YouTube.
