TINY SCHOOL

The Miller Family

We have 2 students in our house. Kiara is doing Year 12 at LHS and Ualani who finished Year 12 at LHS in 2017.

Ualani is currently studying a Bachelor of Science at La-Trobe Uni. In 2018 she had a gap year, during which she embarked on a project to build a tiny house; something she had dreamt of for some time.

When corona caused widespread lockdown and students started learning from home, we were in the midst of a kitchen renovation. The kitchen was non existent and there was a huge hole in the floor.

The girls set up to study inside, but soon found it very difficult with all the construction noise and disruption that come with major construction.

Ualani decided to convert her half finished tiny house into a tiny school. This has been a fabulous development. The girls have a very cute, comfortable tiny space that is a quiet and pleasant place to be.

Our dogs also don’t like the construction noises, so they choose to spend their day in the tiny house with the girls.

Our old dog has a bed on the floor and our younger dog sits up on the desk in a bed. We have decided that he is the Administration Officer. He watches all the activity coming and going from not only the tiny school, but also our property in general.
