Welcome to the final half of Term 2 and the gradual return to face-to-face classroom teaching and learning. A collection of measures have been determined to ensure student and staff safety while using the Library. We would like to alert all Glen Eira College community members to the addition of the Wellness Collection to our Wheelers ePlatform. This collection of over 330 ebooks and audiobooks includes self-help titles, inspirational biographies and YA fiction dealing with contemporary issues. Titles includeMindfulness for teen worry, The happiness trap, 50 things you can do to manage anxiety. More details here

Library and Information Week was celebrated during the final week of May with a fun competition. This year’s theme was CREATE and we invite students to enter our competitions to win great prizes:

  • Create a bookface - see the image below.
  • Create a dress-up as your favourite book character using random things around the house.
  • Create a funny poem about being in 'iso'.

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge kicked off last term and one student has already completed the Challenge while many others have commenced. Students will find details on the Library Catalogue and here. Keen students are invited to email Ms Michael for their username and passcode.  A great selection of VPRC titles are available as ebooks or audiobooks on our Wheelers ePlatform. Navigate to https://gleneiracollege.wheelers.co/, scroll down and you will see browsing lists by year level.

 

Book Club has moved online - to Google Classroom - and students have been invited to participate in book discussions, reviews and in the enjoyment of reading both print and ebooks. A selection of “boredom buster” activities includes this month's feature - Harry Potter at Home.  Listen to Daniel Radcliffe and other actors/celebrities read aloud from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone. The website also includes Wizarding activities.
