SRC Messages

I cannot explain how grateful I am for the time and effort all my teachers are putting in for me to crush VCE! A huge thank you to the entire GEC staff for making sure remote learning stays productive and effective. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this tricky period and I cannot wait to see you all! THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE RESTING AND NOT STRESSING TOO MUCH! We are all there for you and will continue to support you as a return for the encouragement and love we receive from you!

Dear….?

Hmmm….I’m not going to talk about one staff member, I’m going to talk about all of them. This letter is to all the staff of GLEN EIRA COLLEGE. All of you have worked really hard to keep us on track with our work or to make us not feel lonely or upset at home. You all wake up early and get us moving with The Cheery Quotes .Then you have all your six classes and your staff meetings. Also all the plans you all make for next week or the rest of the term. How do you remember 150 students every year and new ones to come?

But most of all you try to make us feel like we are part of Glen Eira College and we are proud to say that we are.

Three Cheers to the:

Teachers

Administration Staff

HPE Team

Wellbeing Team

Production Coordinators

Also the other people who put their effort into the school.

A Big Thank You To The Principal And Assistant Principals!

Dear GEC teachers,

We hope you and your family are safe and well.

The current circumstances we live in are unknown to us all and they bring a lot of uncertainties and new challenges with them. For this reason, I would like to express my gratitude to you on behalf of all students for all that you and your team have done as well as for the kind and supportive messages you have sent to us. You’re finding ways to connect with us and our families, even as you’re trying to take care of yourself and your own family. Teaching during this coronavirus pandemic is so far from typical. It’s literally nothing school systems have ever done before. That Google Meet that didn’t work out? It wasn’t a mess. It was a learning opportunity. We learned that it’s OK to fail and try again the next day. Thank you for the effort and dedication you have put in, to make our learning easier. I can not wait to get back to school in less than two weeks.

Dear teachers, support staff, librarians, principal, assistant principals, sub-school leaders, wellbeing staff and more!

From the students that you ask you to stay back after class to explain to them how to add an attachment, the students who post too many comments on the google classroom, the students who you check in with if they didn't turn up to the class meeting.. thank you.

From the students who won't mute themselves and the students that then repeatedly post comments in capital letters for them to 'TURN YOUR MIC OFF'; thank you.

From the students that 'forget' to change out of their pyjamas and the ones that turn the camera to show off their pets…thank you.

From the students in your technical advisor's crew that show you what a chrome extension is and the students that are the first to join the meeting and have to sit through that first minute of silence hoping that the teacher doesn't notice them on there...thank you.

From the parents/carers that are able to continue working because their children are engaged, supported and helped (and the parents/carers who are out of their depth with the student’s maths)… thank you.

From every student and parent/carer of Glen Eira College, thank you. It seems so inadequate to say but we do mean it. Yes, remote learning certainly has its difficulties but we are grateful for everything you are doing. So, even though it doesn’t seem like enough, thank you. Thank you!

Dear teachers,

THANK YOU!

All of the work that you have put in over the last couple of weeks has truly made our transition to home learning as smooth as possible. Of course there have been ups and down but that was expected. I really appreciate how much time you have all put in to ensure that we know what we are doing each lesson and are able to still improve and grow considering the circumstances. You inspire me and so many others to take advantage of the circumstances, no matter what they may be, and use them to our advantage.

I hope you understand how much we all appreciate your work, we would be lost in this crazy world without you.

To GEC's beloved teachers,

During these hard times, we can't thank you enough for everything you've done so far. Remote learning or not, thank you for putting up with our antics and all the difficulties you face because of us, it's safe to say I speak on behalf of the GEC students! Because of each and every one of you, I never forget to appreciate every word you say to me, you've sculpted the person I am today with your advice, constructive criticism and lessons.

You continue to inspire and encourage us students to go beyond our limits and to take opportunities we never thought we could reach. Saying that you made a huge difference in our lives is an understatement. Teachers, you always believed in me even when I didn't. I really couldn't open my Chromebook today if it weren't for that English assignment. So, thank god for schoolwork! I will forever be grateful for the lessons you organize, respectful to your contribution and collaborative in classes, trying to answer every question you throw. Because another thing you taught us all is to try

Once again, to GEC's influencers, supporters, motivators, innovators and listeners, thank you times infinity. Your sacrifices don't go unnoticed! My sincerest appreciation to you all.

Dear GEC teachers and staff,

I would like to say thank you for all the hard work that you do for us every day. Especially all the work that you took on when COVID 19 came around. I truly appreciate what you all have done for my friends, my family and me. During this time it must be hard, and you displaying all of this hard work shows that anything is possible. Thank you for all of the patience and understanding that you’ve shown. Especially when we didn’t understand something, or when we had small dilemmas such as a bad internet connection. And for trying to check all of your emails so that you knew OUR problems, even though you probably had heaps.

Emma Blair - Year 7

Dear teachers,

I would like to acknowledge your wonderful efforts in continuing to teach online and for making classes so entertaining and diverse! Quizzes and kahoots are always a lot of fun and something that I have been enjoying. During this tough time, it’s hard to continue learning and socializing without being in the classroom but having daily meeting sessions and discussions makes it much more engaging.

Thank you for all of your hard work and time that you have put into helping us learn and communicate online and for being flexible in negotiating appropriate times and due dates for assessments. I really appreciate you providing us with so much support and guidance during this unusual time. I do miss being in the classroom and seeing everyone everyday, but online learning has become a routine now and it doesn’t feel as strange as it first did but I still can’t wait until we are all back together again!

Hey Teachers,

Thank you so much for all your effort and patience with us students. It can be a hard time but we all appreciate what you have done for us. Thank you for all the time and effort you have put into the work you have set for us. We appreciate all the things you have given and taught us through online learning. Thank you for working so hard on putting together online tests and platforms for us to learn on. Thank you for being patient with us and the work deadlines. We all are very grateful to have you, the GEC teachers, to teach us. It is definitely an experience and we all hope you and your families are safe and well.
