All GEC parents and guardians are welcome to attend our meetings – a great chance to meet some school families and help the school. Our meetings are friendly and informal, and your level of involvement is up to you. If you are interested in being involved or are not already receiving our emails, please email us.

Second hand uniform shop

The uniform stall is a helpful service for families and a valuable fundraiser for the school. Please donate your unwanted uniform items by the end of term. Kindly ensure that all items are in reasonable condition and have been washed and dried before you bring them in. Items can be left at the school office for donation. We thank you for your generosity.

How can we help you?....

We invite you to share with us suggestions of how GECPA can help you and your family during your child’s years spent at GEC. We value your thoughts and ideas and would love to hear from you gecpa@gec.vic.edu.au

Friendship ‘buddy’

Do you feel alone and need someone to call ‘friend’? Or perhaps you have recently arrived in Melbourne or Australia early this year and would like to get to know another parent from a similar cultural background? Let us help you ‘buddy up’ with another parent from the school community. Send us an email and let’s chat  gecpa@gec.vic.edu.au

Reconciliation Week - “All in this Together”

May 27- June 3

Glen Eira College and our community occupy indigenous land that Traditional Owners care deeply for and have done for millennia. We thank them for their environmental stewardship. We can learn more with Indigenous peoples about their cultures and how to better care for local environments. We welcome students and their families from Aboriginal, Torres Strait and Indigenous backgrounds.

Booran Reserve has information signs on local indigenous culture and stories – stop and have a read next time you are in the park.

Glen Eira Climate News

Congratulations to Glen Eira Council for resolving on the 5th March to make our climate safer. Council resolved to accelerate actions to reduce Council and community emissions to net zero as soon as possible (and by 2025/30) and declared a climate emergency. Glen Eira joins over 30 other Victorian Councils and over 1400 Councils internationally – starting with the City of Darebin in 2016. Council will soon invite community input on a new Environment Plan to achieve a safer climate and more livable community.

Safe Climate what’s needed - clear presentation by Will Steffen at ANU speaking for Renew – approx. 40 minutes. The graphics are very clear and comparison with Covid 19 response is interesting. Imagine if lockdown had come during last summer’s bushfires!
