VCE

Because of current circumstances, a number of Universities and TAFE Institutions have changed how they will be hosting Open Days for 2020. For some institutions it means that a move has been made to host Virtual University Open Days. I recently sent an email to all Year 11 and Year 12 students with a long list of dates and events that the University and TAFEs will be hosting throughout May to August 2020.

Latrobe Aspire Early Admissions Program

At La Trobe, they know there’s more to being a good student than good marks.

Their Aspire program rewards you for your leadership, volunteering or community contributions.  Have you been part of an award like the Duke of Edinburgh; volunteered with an organisation such as Lifesaving VIC, Relay for Life or Salvation Army; been in a leadership role like a sports team captain; or helped out your community in another way?

Tell them about it and you could get an early offer to La Trobe University ahead of the general round offers. You could also win a scholarship, receive extra study support to ace your Year 12 exams and make like-minded friends ahead of your first class.

Here are some more examples of Aspire students’ community work:

  • fundraising for charity
  • helping to run a school or community club
  • coaching a sports team
  • volunteering at a nursing home
  • mentoring younger students
  • leading as a school or house captain.

Year 12

For students and parents who have already started to think about 2021 and the logistics related to students commencing University and TAFEs; including how they will be able to get help with Higher Education fees, or what Government loans are available, I have attached a link to the Beyond School Study Guide, which is a very useful resource provided by the Australian Government and Study Assist.
