School Production Update

As they say, the show must go on! Due to ongoing restrictions we decided to postpone our original June performance dates for GEC’s 2020 production of Freaky Friday. We are still waiting for our proposed new dates to be approved – as soon as we have this information we will let all cast, crew and orchestra students and their families know as well as publicising it within the College community.

However, there have been lots of things happening during this period of remote and online learning. There is now a Freaky Friday Google Classroom where there are regular announcements and rehearsal materials posted, as well as a number of online Google Meets with the cast, crew and orchestra organised through the Meet link there. Our production team have been busy creating and uploading content for students to practice with at home, including rehearsal tracks for each voice part and detailed choreography videos – a HUGE thank you to our Director/Vocal teacher Tori Wood as well as our Choreographer and GEC alum Zoe Tuttleby for their many hours putting these together.

Students in the cast are currently working on three of the bigger numbers from the show, as well as working with their costuming assistant on finding some parts of their costume: 

• Busted
• Oh, Biology
• Go

The cast and crew also participated in a Freaky Friday kahoot quiz during their most recent Google Meet - congratulations to Poppy, Freya and Amelia for their podium finish! The trivia quiz was so popular that we have decided to open it up to the wider school community (please note - a certain amount of Freaky Friday knowledge would definitely be helpful, but you can also find out lots of interesting trivia about the show!) In other exciting news, cast member Joseph Folwell got a shoutout on Instagram from original cast member (both of the Disney Channel Original film as well as the stage production of Freaky Friday) Heidi Blickenstaff who sang Parents Lie at his request!! GEC represent! (Joseph gets name checked at 1:30).
