Junior School - Middle Junior Program

This week, we welcomed Year 1 and Year 2 students of 2021 from all over the Riverina to our College to take part in the first week of the Middle Junior Program (MJP). Students learnt a new strategy to enhance their comprehension by closing their eyes and making a mental picture. Mr Humble, Principal and Mrs Chacon, Head of Junior School shared stories with the children which gave them the opportunity to practise their new comprehension strategy in context.

Students were immersed in a number of fun Language, Art and Physical Education activities. They were given opportunities to pronounce different colours in Spanish, express themselves through music and practise some fundamentals skills of physical education.

The MJP is open to all 2021 Year 1 and Year 2 students, enrolment is not required to attend this program.

Year 12 Graduation Day

This week, Mr Humble, Principal addressed the Year 12 students to provide them with the latest arrangements for Year 12 Graduation Day. See below for an excerpt from Mr Humble's address.

To support the health and safety of all community members, the Year 12 events that would traditionally take place in these final weeks have undergone some adjustment. We are committed to providing quality education whilst we remain focused on helping all students achieve the best results possible in the upcoming HSC exams, we are also cognizant of the need to support your wellbeing.

Completing Secondary School is a significant triumph and one that should be celebrated. This year has brought about the most unpredictable set of circumstances in so many regards and we will be working hard to offer a means to celebrate the end of Year 12 in the safest way possible. It is important that the College complies with the directive of the NSW Premier and Chief Health Officer with regard to social distancing rules and recommendations. As such, I have made the following decisions for the completion of Secondary School celebrations at the end of Term 3:

  • A celebration will take place with Year 12 students only in attendance on Wednesday 23 September. Students will receive certificates at this Assembly and this will be live- streamed to students Years 7-11, parents and carers.
  • Year 12 students will be invited to attend the traditional Breakfast on Wednesday 23 September. This will be held outside with no other students or parents to attend.
  • The traditional St John’s Chapel service will not proceed however the College Chaplain, Mr Gareth Tyndall will present a Chapel service in the final week of Term.
  • The Year 12 Formal (dinner) that would traditionally take place on the evening of Year 12’s last day of school has been postponed until after the HSC exams have finished. We sincerely hope that NSW will be in a position to allow events like this to take place later in the year.
  • Final week activities will be communicated to you by Mr Fuller once these have been confirmed.

I would like to thank you all for your continued support of the College.

Raising the Awareness for Daffodil Day

Each year students from our College support Daffodil Day by assisting with the selling of Daffodil Day merchandise in the central business district.  This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, students and staff supported Daffodil Day by making a paper Daffodil. A huge thank you to our College leaders for managing this activity and being proud supporters of Daffodil Day in 2020.  Funds raised from our upcoming mufti day will go towards supporting Daffodil Day.
