The Parents and Friends Association

P&F Online Cooking Demonstrations

For the 5 Saturday afternoons which concluded on September 26, the Huntingtower P&F took our community on a guided culinary tour of the world.

Hosted by our wonderful committee member Edna, our Zoom sessions were attended by between 50 and 70 participants every week. These included friends from Huntingtower staff, parents and our Principal, Mr Houghton.  We also had the company of friends joining from the four corners of the world, including Canada, Germany, India and Indonesia.

The cooking classes were joyful events which really brought the community together in a way that proved to be a diversion from the concerns of the previous 6 months. The P&F extends its sincere thanks to Edna for her inspiration and hospitality.  Edna was ably assisted by her family in welcoming us into her home and so successfully producing our sessions.

Thanks also to committee members Poppy and Lana who assisted as panellists and conveyed participants’ questions to Edna throughout. Of course, a big thank you to Huntingtower, whose team made it possible to deliver these webinars via Zoom. A special thank you to Jo Hetherington in the office, who worked tirelessly in sending out communications and for her crash-course in Zoom webinars and ironing out all the wrinkles in order to bring this initiative to fruition.  A big congratulations to all concerned!

2020 and beyond

Last week, the P&F held our Quarterly Meeting. This was attended by our Heads of School, Dr McDonald and Mr Houghton, along with our wonderful class representatives and committee members. Reflecting on the events of 2020 and with the imminent return to school of our children, we have much to be grateful for – most of all, the support and commitment of Huntingtower to the student and family community.

We extend our gratitude to the school executive and the teachers for their amazing service over a very challenging year.  We look forward to our continued involvement in school life as, optimistically, things improve as the year draws to a close.

2021 holds a high degree of uncertainty but P&F are looking at how we may continue bringing the Huntingtower community together in the year to come and look forward to resuming our normal activities on-campus next year.  Watch this space – and check the P&F Firefly page – to stay up to date with events as they become clearer in the weeks and months ahead.
